Now the aurin has come to its new home!
We catch fish every other year, so now is your chance to meet the smolt. Smolt is the name for young fish that have fully adapted to the transition from freshwater to saltwater – ready to migrate further into the ocean.
The fish arrived on the wellboat Ro master , which is specially built to transport live fish with a focus on good fish welfare. With a skilled and experienced crew, the smolt was safely transported and released into its new home: Dyrholmen west.
Here the fish will grow big and strong in safe, controlled environments. This marks the start of a new production cycle for us in Engesund, and we look forward to following the fish on their journey!
Healthy food straight from the sea
Sea bass is not only a sustainable product – it is also one of the healthiest things you can have on your dinner plate. The fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, protein, vitamin D, iodine and selenium – important nutrients for the heart, brain and immune system.
Through our work, we want to contribute to healthier eating habits and a more sustainable food system – with locally sourced seafood produced with care for both the fish and the environment.

The café at our viewing center is open every day throughout the summer, from 12 noon to 5 pm. Here you can also buy delicious dishes made with our own trout – fresh, tasty and local.
You can take the trip out with your own boat, or join one of the regular trips from Fitjarsjøen 2, every day at 11 am and 2 pm.
At Fitjarsjøen 2 you can also buy fillets of our trout. Then you can bring the taste of Engesund home to your own kitchen.
We welcome both young and old to an educational, tasty and eventful summer at the seaside!
